Big Sur Coast Sunset Photograph: Sunset photo shot with Olympus C-3030 Zoom; Photoshop filters- Brightness and Contrast, Hue and Saturation, Curves. Digital Photography Tips and Tricks: The hard part of photographing sunsets digitally is getting the correct exposure. This camera like most high end digital cameras takes the shot in two increments, press the button ¾ of the way down and it locks in all your auto settings like focus and aperture, press the button the rest of the way and it takes the shot.
So to get your sunset shot exposed correctly use your cameras' spot meter mode, point the camera at an area which has the correct amount of light you want to expose for, press the button ¾ of the way down to lock in your cameras' settings then frame the shot like you want and finish pushing the button. Check your shot; make adjustments; shot again. Underexposed a little is better than overexposed you can fine adjust using an image editor. Another way that you can be sure to get the correct exposure is to use this cameras' Auto Bracket Setting; this shoots a sequence of shots at different exposures.
Taking portrait photographs where your subject has the sunset in the background requires a different kind of digital photography trick.
